What is included
CabinVolt is a curated snapshot of primary recall notices from regulators or manufacturers, plus airline policies. Each model has a specific source and an event date when available. The database is not a comprehensive worldwide alert system, and source pages may be revised after our last review on 30 October 2026.
Order of checks
- Find the exact normalized model number, not just a brand or product family.
- Apply explicit regulator and carrier model restrictions by route.
- Check recall scope: all units, serial number, specific prefix, manufacture range, or seller/date-code conditions.
- Calculate Wh only from a supplied battery-label rating or mAh and nominal battery voltage, or from verified official specifications.
- Apply the selected airline's published quantity and energy limit. If its details are unverified, the answer stays unresolved.
What the verdict means
Do not bring indicates a sourced recall match, applicable ban, or capacity over the published limit. Check required indicates serial, batch, incomplete data, unknown carrier policy or a dated snapshot. No confirmed restriction from this check never means a model is certified, recalled-free, or guaranteed boarding.
The ICAO March 2026 amendment
ICAO's March 27, 2026 amendment limits passengers to two power banks and prohibits recharging those power banks during flight. It recommends against using them to charge other devices; individual airlines can be more restrictive. For lithium batteries between 100 and 160 Wh, obtain airline approval and confirm current requirements. These are not blanket permissions.
Data-quality safeguards
We do not invent Wh values from marketed mAh figures. Conflicting label, computed and manufacturer ratings suspend the capacity clearance until verified. Quantity is checked per passenger. Some recall scopes vary between jurisdictions. We show conflict if a printed value differs from verified manufacturer data. Serial numbers and photos remain on the device. We do not store individual lookup queries on a server. This version has no live regulatory API: notices are reviewed and republished manually.
